By Brian Jacks

02.19.03

Diamond Select Toys has announced the debut of Marvel MiniMates. Coming out of a collaborative effort with toy makers Art Asylum, these little things measure up at 2 1/2" tall.

Scheduled to be in stores this June, Marvel MiniMates will debut with high-profile Marvel superheroes that include Daredevil, Hulk, the X-Men, Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, and Mr. Fixit. Each figure is based around a common body, but is featured with unique accessories and body parts appropriate to the character.

MiniMates were created in 2002 by Art Asylum as a new style of action figure for all ages. The company says adult collectors and children alike have embraced this new style of toy that has already appeared in stores starring a variety of characters, from Bruce Lee to Ozzy Osbourne and from Star Trek's Captain Kirk to rock icons Kiss.

Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum have collaborated on several other projects in recent years, including the Rogues' Gallery bust collection and Marvel Milestones line of full-size statues.
