By Brian Jacks
Well, nobody saw this one coming. Following on the heels of Warren Zevon's tragic death this week of cancer, now television star John Ritter has passed away at age 54.
Ritter is best known for his role of Jack Tripper on TV's Three's Company, as well as being the father in the Problem Child films. He also had numerous successful roles on Broadway. He had most recently found primetime success once again as star of the ABC television series 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.
A statement released by the actor's publicist says that Ritter died after being rushed to the hospital for a "dissection of the aorta," a condition of the heart.
According to CNN, "John Ritter was born on September 17, 1948. He is survived by his wife, Amy Yasbeck, and their daughter, Stella, and three children -- Carly, Tyler and Jason -- from his first marriage to Nancy Morgan."
